Pre-Order Plant Collection FAQs

What does it mean to pre-order plants?

Pre-ordering allows you to reserve plants ahead of the active shipping season, ensuring availability for popular or limited-production varieties. Orders are placed in advance and fulfilled once plants reach the appropriate stage for safe shipment.

This approach helps align plant readiness with seasonal planting windows rather than immediate fulfillment.

Why would I choose to pre-order instead of buying in season?

Pre-ordering is useful for gardeners who want to plan ahead, secure high-demand varieties, or coordinate larger planting projects. It removes the uncertainty that can come with limited in-season availability.

By reserving plants early, you can focus on preparation and timing rather than last-minute sourcing.

When will pre-order plants ship?

Pre-order plants ship when seasonal conditions and plant readiness allow for safe transit and successful planting. Shipping timing depends on the type of plant and appropriate planting windows rather than order date alone.

You’ll receive notification as your order approaches its shipping window.

Are pre-order plants grown differently than in-stock plants?

Pre-order plants are grown and cared for using the same standards as all other Almanac offerings. The difference is timing, not quality or growing method.

Plants are monitored and shipped only when they are ready to establish successfully in their new environment.

Can I include pre-order plants with other items in my order?

Orders that include pre-order plants are typically grouped around the pre-order shipping window to ensure everything arrives in suitable condition. This helps prevent premature shipment or plant stress.

Planning orders around timing can help streamline delivery and planting.

What should I do while waiting for my pre-order to ship?

Use the time before shipment to prepare planting areas, assess sunlight and spacing, and plan companion plantings if needed. Having your site ready helps ensure a smooth transition once plants arrive.

Preparing in advance supports healthier establishment and reduces stress during planting.
