Summary
Soft salmon petals, warm coral undertones, and long-lasting blooms make Echinacea SunSeekers® Salmon a glowing, sunset-inspired feature in the summer garden.
This variety opens in vivid salmon and peach shades, then gradually shifts toward softer apricot and rose as the blooms mature. The result is a layered, painterly gradient on each flower and a dynamic, evolving color display over the entire plant. From up close or at a distance, SunSeekers® Salmon gives borders and beds a warm, inviting glow that feels at home in both cottage-style and modern landscapes.
Compact, well-branched, and floriferous, SunSeekers® Salmon thrives in sunny borders, pollinator plantings, and container groupings. Its sturdy stems make it excellent for bouquets, while its tolerance of heat, humidity, and periodic drought keeps it performing when many other perennials slow down.
Care
SunSeekers Salmon Coneflower Care
Plant in full sun for the strongest color, most abundant blooming, and best plant habit. Coneflowers struggle in dense shade or consistently wet conditions.
Provide well-drained soil. SunSeekers® Salmon is adaptable to sandy, rocky, or moderately lean soils but should not sit in standing water. If you have heavy clay, amend the planting area to improve drainage or plant in raised beds.
Water regularly during the first growing season to help establish a deep, resilient root system. Once established, SunSeekers® Salmon becomes drought tolerant and typically only needs supplemental water during extended dry spells.
For an easy bloom boost, apply a slow release fertilizer in spring as new growth emerges. Our slow release fertilizer works beautifully with coneflowers and other sun-loving perennials.
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming through summer. In fall and winter, you can leave dried seed heads standing for added texture and natural bird food, then cut back old stems in late winter or early spring.

Is SunSeekers Salmon Good for Pollinators?
Yes. Like other echinacea, SunSeekers® Salmon offers open, nectar-rich blooms that attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects all season long. If you leave the seed heads standing into fall, they also provide food for goldfinches and songbirds.
Does SunSeekers Salmon Rebloom?
Yes. With regular deadheading, SunSeekers® Salmon produces flowers continuously from early summer into fall. Even without constant deadheading, it has a naturally long bloom window compared to many traditional coneflower varieties.
Is SunSeekers Salmon a Good Cut Flower?
Absolutely. Its sturdy stems, warm salmon-to-apricot petals, and excellent vase life make SunSeekers® Salmon a beautiful addition to fresh bouquets. Harvest blooms when petals are fully open for the best performance indoors.
How Is SunSeekers® Salmon Different from Standard Echinacea?
SunSeekers® Salmon is part of the SunSeekers® series, which is bred for rich, modern color tones and strong garden performance. While many older echinacea varieties feature single, static flower colors, SunSeekers® Salmon layers salmon, peach, and apricot tones that shift subtly as the flowers age, creating depth and movement on each plant.
In addition, SunSeekers® Salmon offers:
-
Compact, uniform growth that fits neatly into borders and containers
-
Excellent branching with a high flower count per plant
-
Long-season color from early summer through fall with proper care
-
Reliable performance in heat and humidity without sacrificing flower quality
These traits make SunSeekers® Salmon an ideal choice for gardeners who want a premium, warm-toned coneflower that looks refined in the landscape and performs well in tough summer conditions.
Where Should I Plant SunSeekers Salmon in My Garden?
Plant SunSeekers® Salmon near the middle or front of sunny beds where its warm hues can be easily seen—along walkways, in mixed perennial borders, or near patios and seating areas. It pairs beautifully with ornamental grasses, blue or purple perennials, and silver-foliage plants that highlight its soft salmon and apricot tones.
