Summary
Dapper® Pink Butterfly Bush brings the pollinator-drawing power of traditional butterfly bush into a compact, garden-friendly package. Upright spires of soft bubblegum pink flowers bloom prolifically from early summer and continue reblooming well into fall, producing a steady supply of sweet, honey-scented nectar that attracts butterflies and hummingbirds throughout the season.
Unlike standard butterfly bush varieties that can reach six feet or more with an open, leggy habit, Dapper® Pink stays neatly rounded at just 3 to 4 feet tall and wide. The dense, light green foliage fills in fully, giving the plant a polished appearance whether planted in a border, along a foundation, or as the centerpiece of a container garden. New blooms emerge as spent flowers fade, reducing the need for regular deadheading.
Part of the Bloomables® series from Star® Roses and Plants, this selection was bred for improved compactness, continuous bloom, and strong garden performance across a wide range of climates. It thrives in full sun and handles heat, drought, and poor soils with minimal fuss.
Care
Dapper® Pink Butterfly Bush Care
Plant in full sun with at least six hours of direct light daily for the best flower production and strongest stems. Dapper® Pink adapts to most well-drained soil types and is not particular about soil pH. Avoid consistently wet or waterlogged sites.
Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots. Once established, this butterfly bush is drought tolerant and needs supplemental irrigation only during extended dry spells. Fertilization is generally not needed in average garden soil. In lean soils, a light spring application of slow release fertilizer is adequate.
In colder zones (5–6), Buddleia may die back to the ground over winter. Cut all stems back to about 12 inches in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges — the plant blooms on new wood and will recover quickly. Be patient in spring, as butterfly bush is one of the last shrubs to break dormancy. Deadheading is optional but can encourage additional flushes of bloom.

Additional Information
What makes Dapper® Pink different from other butterfly bushes?
Dapper® Pink is significantly more compact than traditional Buddleia davidii varieties, staying under 4 feet in both height and width. Its dense branching habit means the foliage stays full rather than developing the open, leggy look common in larger selections. New blooms also emerge as spent flowers fade, reducing deadheading chores.
Is Dapper® Pink Butterfly Bush deer resistant?
Yes. Butterfly bush foliage is generally unpalatable to deer, making Dapper® Pink a reliable choice for landscapes with browsing pressure. Browse our full deer-resistant plants collection for more options.
Does Dapper® Pink attract pollinators?
Absolutely. The sweet, honey-scented flower spikes are a magnet for butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees throughout the long bloom season. It is an excellent addition to any dedicated Butterfly Bushes planting or pollinator garden.
Can Dapper® Pink be grown in containers?
Yes. Its compact size and rounded habit make it well-suited to large patio containers. Use a well-drained potting mix and provide full sun. Plants hardy in the ground may require winter protection when grown in containers in colder zones.
