An eclectic and contorted tree that's sure to draw all the right attention!
Salix matsudana—most commonly called Corkscrew Willow, and Twisted Willow—is best known for its spiraling branches and extremely fast growth! Growing as fast as two feet a year, you can practically watch it grow!
In addition to its branches twisting and spiraling, its brightly colored leaves are twisted and spiraled, too! Leaves turn attractive shades of yellow in the fall.
Birds seem to love this tree as much as people, as its unique growth provides ample areas for perching and nesting!
Trimmed branches are perfect for crafts and arrangements!
Its curly branches provide four-season interest, and look amazing in the winter when there are no leaves on them!
Deer tolerant, salt tolerant, and disease resistant!
Care
Corkscrew Willow Tree Care
Provide full to partial sun! Typically, the more sun Twisted Willow has, the faster it will grow. Too little light will cause growth issues.
Fertilization is suggested, especially if the soil is poor. Our slow release fertilizer is a great option. We recommend that fertilizations be applied in the spring.
Does best in soil that's moist, slightly acidic, and well draining. Does not thrive in dry soil!
Pruning and trimming are unnecessary, although you're free to trim and shape your tree as desired.
Water regularly, especially after planting prior to establishment. Attempt to keep soil moist, but not wet. It's suggested to place 2"-3" of mulch under this plant to help retain a light degree of ground moisture and to prevent the growth of weeds around the base.

Toxicity and Risks of Corkscrew Willow
