Shipping was very disappointing. No ridged structure to the boxes. Came smashed and partially opened. No surprise though, they had only one strip of tape which didn't adhere to the box flaps. Quality of the trees? To be determined, but regardless I could never order again from you.

Thanks for your honest feedback, Robert—and I’m really sorry to hear about the condition of your box upon arrival. We’re a small plant company, not a shipping company, and we rely on USPS and UPS to deliver our plants. While we pack with care and follow industry best practices—including using a single strip of 3' tape per box, as recommended by Uline’s tape guide (https://www.uline.com/guide/TapeGuides.htm)—we have no control over how boxes are handled once they leave our facility.

Damage like this is extremely rare, which makes us think your box may have been unusually mistreated in transit. To protect against that level of rough handling, the only real solution would be to ship every order in a rigid crate—which simply isn’t feasible or environmentally sustainable.

We’re also aware that some plant companies place a length of PVC pipe inside the box for added structure. In our view, that’s more of a gimmick than a solution. A single pipe laid lengthwise doesn’t offer meaningful protection against crushing forces, and using that much plastic in every order just isn’t environmentally responsible.

That said, we absolutely understand your frustration. If the trees don’t bounce back or you’re not satisfied with how they settle in, please reach out—we’re here to help and make it right if needed.

Quick shipping, very healthy & mature shrubs

I was very impressed with the shrubs I received from Almanac. They were shipped the same day, arrived in excellent health, and were noticeably more mature than similar plants I ordered from another supplier. I had previously purchased Junior Giants from a different online nursery, but decided to plant them closer together than originally planned—so I needed a few more. I ordered the additional plants from Almanac, and honestly, I wish I had purchased them all here.

Even though both orders were labeled as 3-gallon, the shrubs from Almanac were taller, fuller, and had thicker trunks. It’s clear they were more robust and better established. After doing a lot of research, I chose this variety for its fast growth and dense foliage. I’m hopeful my patience will pay off.

Looking forward to seeing how quickly they grow and how wide they get, as there seems to be some conflicting information out there.
