Summary
Primula vulgaris ‘Oakleaf Magenta’—often referred to as Primrose 'Oakleaf Magenta', and sometimes as Oakleaf Magenta Primrose—is a compact primrose best known for its unique and evergreen Oak-like jagged leaves which inspired its name.
This extremely early season bloomer produces an explosion of eye-catching, bright magenta and sunshine yellow blooms in late winter and throughout early spring!
Super popular as an early season container plant and even as a houseplant! We don't list it as a houseplant; however, because it will likely only bloom once if used in such a way. Most people that use them as houseplants discard them after blooming (or plant them outside).
Vivid flowers tower above foliage atop of long stems.
Care
Primrose (Primula) Care
It's suggested to give your Primrose somewhere between partial sun and partial shade. Not enough light will cause growth issues. We've personally had success growing Primrose in full sun, although others have noted issues such as leaf burn.
Attempt to keep its soil moist but not wet. It's also suggested that the soil be well draining.
Primrose are known to be average feeders so fertilization is suggested, especially in spring. Our slow release fertilizer is a great option.
