Summary
An almost constant, year-round supply of bluish-purple blooms on a plant with evergreen leaves!
Streptocarpella (commonly referred to as False African Violet) is a tropical plant that's best known for its practically constant eruption of flowers rising above and complimenting evergreen, soft foliage.
Known for its tendency to cascade down as it grows, Streptocarpella works great for plant stands, hanging baskets, and atop ledges.
It's the perfect houseplant and patio plant for a variety of locations. It's also a great outdoor plant when grown in an appropriate tropical zone.
Care
False African Violet Care
It's suggested to give your Streptocarpella somewhere between partial sun and partial shade. Not enough light will cause growth issues. We've personally had success growing Streptocarpella in full sun, although others have noted issues such as leaf burn.
This is a tropical plant and it loves moisture! Humidifiers, misters, and pebble beds may be used to supplement humidity.
Attempt to keep its soil moist but not wet. It's also suggested that the soil be well draining.
Ideal temperature range is 70°F - 95°F. Exposure to 50°F or cooler for prolonged periods of time will cause damage such as yellowing. Although considered by some to be frost tolerant, repeated exposure to freezing temperatures and frost will kill this plant.
Streptocarpella are known to be average feeders so fertilization is suggested, especially in spring. Our slow release fertilizer is a great option.
