Amorphophallus konjac—commonly called Voodoo Lily, Corpse Flower, and Devil’s Tongue—is probably one of the most unique plants that we sell.

It's best known for its mottled pinkish gray and olive green leaf stalk, and large (3'+) spring flower that smells like rotting flesh. The scent of this flower attracts flies and other types of insects attracted to carrion, which act as pollinators. Don't worry too much, the smell typically doesn't last for more than a few days.

Voodoo Lily grows into a single leaf plant, which is made up of leaflets on branches that gives the resemblance of a small tree. The size of the leaf is related to the size of the bulb (tuber). Larger tubers produce larger plants.

Growing from a bulb that is used as a source of food in some Asian countries, this plant may take a few years of establishment to bloom. Larger bulbs are associated with an increased likelihood of a spring bloom.

*Bulbs will ship in a bag of vermiculite, sawdust, kitty litter, or soilless potting mix.

Voodoo Lily Care

We suggest digging up your Amorphophallus konjac bulbs for overwintering indoors if planted in zones 6 or cooler, although zone 6 is considered by some to be an approved hardiness zone for this plant.

Plant in the spring to a depth beneath the surface of the soil as deep as the tuber is wide. Make sure that the emerging growth is pointing to the surface.

We suggest planting in the spring after soil and air temperatures are above 55°F.

Do not cut off your Voodoo Lily leaf until it has turned completely brown, which should happen sometime in mid to late fall.

It's suggested to separate new growth from tubers in the spring, not the fall.

Water regularly and attempt to keep its soil moist but not wet.

Flowers may be covered with a bag or removed if their smell is too unpleasant.

The bulb we received was a large one and had already started to sprout some. Can’t wait to see the leaf not so sure about the flower.

Thanks for taking the time to write us a great review, George! We're glad to know you're happy with your purchase.
