Benary's Giant Zinnias are considered by many to be the most premium zinnia in existence!

Profuse flowering is normal! Blooms seem to come back over and over, even after they're harvested for floral arrangements!

Recommended by the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers for their vigorous growth habits, uniformity, production capacity, and carefree cultivation across a range of growing zones and conditions!

Flowers feature a bright, golden yellow center when fully opened!

Giant Zinnias are known to attract various pollinators such as bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies!

Giant Zinnia Care

Zinnia elegans does best in full sun.

Plant after the last spring frost, ideally when temperatures are above 50°F.

Giant Zinnia requires soil that is moist, but not wet. Irrigate during establishment, and during periods of drought. Do not allow this plant's soil to completely dry! Avoid overhead watering to mitigate the risk of powdery mildew.

Fertilize as required, especially if planted in poor soil.

Does best in temperatures between 60°F and 95°F.

Protect against strong winds, especially if flowering!

Although unnecessary, the deadheading of spent flowers will encourage blooming, and help to ensure a tidy plant.

Benarys giant orange zinnia

I live in zone 11a and my delivery came during a heat wave and i think plantings were too young for this climate. I lost about 1/2 of them. Is it possible to get more mature plantings?

Thanks for your feedback, Jeff—we’re sorry to hear about the losses, especially with that tough heat wave. Benary’s Giants are heat-loving once established, but they can definitely struggle if they’re planted young into intense conditions like those in Zone 11a.

We grow and ship these at a younger stage so they can adjust gradually to outdoor life, but we totally understand how that can be challenging in extreme heat. Unfortunately, sending more mature zinnias isn’t usually feasible, as larger plants tend to suffer more damage during transit and have a harder time establishing once planted.

We saw that you placed a second order, and we truly appreciate the continued trust—fingers crossed the timing worked out better and you had more success with this batch! As always, we’re here if you have any questions or need support along the way.
